Utah Travel Center Cities Long ValleyHistory

Long Valley (Kane County) stretches between Long Valley Junction and Carmel Junction. White people who originally entered the valley called it Berry Canyon after John Berry who settled Berryville in 1864 on the site where Glendale is presently located. Several members of the Berry family were killed by Indians while they were in the process of settling in the valley. Dr. Priddy Meeks and his family arrived in the valley with the Berrys and settled where Mount Carmel is today. (John W. Van Cott)
