Orderville
(Kane County) is on U-89 in Long Valley, between Mount
Carmel and Glendale. The settlement was initially established
in 1875 by Mormon settlers from Glendale who had moved
earlier from the settlements on the Muddy River in southern
Nevada. The first families who arrived intended to discipline
themselves by following a strict United Order program
that was encouraged by the Mormon Church. The name comes
from that United Order program. (John
W. Van Cott)
