Theater
& Art Come Alive in Park City. It
used to be that winter resorts offered skiing, dining
and lodging for its visitors. However, savvy travelers,
as well as those who now make resort towns their homes,
demand much more from their surroundings, including cultural
activities. Along those lines, artists also have discovered
the benefits of moving to, and presenting their works
in, such settings. Park City, once a rough-and-tough mining
town, now offers its visitors a plethora of cultural options,
from live theater to numerous art galleries, a film series
to one of the world's most prestigious film festivals.
ART
GALLERIES: Park City offers over 20 galleries
featuring works from local, regional and national artists.
Friday Night Gallery Strolls, the first Friday of each
month, is a wonderful way to see what is new in Park City's
art scene. The stroll is along Main Street from 6-9 p.m.
THE

City's newest addition to the cultural scene, the 1,300
seat Eccles Center for the Performing Arts is designed

community. The center will host live performances, drama
competitions and such national touring acts as the Tibetan
Monks, China’s Lily Cai dance group and the Missoula Children’s
Theater, as well as the Sundance Film Festival held each
January in Park City.

now in its 15th year. The festival attracts guest artists
of exceptional quality from around the world for performances

for the arts and their creation, exposure, teaching and
